DIXON GILLETTE: Now, over here on the right is our route cue, and you can see that our
first stop is Yuma and it begins--it picks up food. It goes to Eloy where it drops the
food off and picks up passengers. And by default, this train will return back to number one
after it's over. So if you had a train and it has 10 stops, after it's done with its
10th stop, it will, of course, default return back to its origin and begin its route all
over again. Now, if you want to change locomotives, you will come up here to your change locomotive
screen. Now, this will bring you to the round house where you can select different locomotives
according to what type of cargo you are hauling. Now, as you can see here, it will start you
out with the earliest and the least technologically advanced train. And down below on the graph,
you can see how fast this train will perform given the amount of cars it carries. And these
lines will also tell you the type of cargo, so you can see this top red line here is our
mail-performance indicator, and it drastically goes down the number of cars. So of course,
as new trains become available, the performance increases. However, the newest train isn't
always necessarily the best type of train that you're going to want. So as you can see
here, the 4-6-0 Ten Wheeler has great passenger performance, but its cargo performance isn't
that great. So we're going to select a train that is better for cargo and--there is no
better train, so we're just going to have to go with that one. So you could also determine
your train's priority level by the slide down. Now, a train that has low priority will give
way to all trains that have normal and high priority. Consequently, trains that have high
priority will basically have first pick of the tracks. So once you're satisfied with
your route, your locomotive selections, you'll just push OK to confirm, and you'll be able
to see here that our new train is beginning to load up at Yuma terminal with a carload
of food. And that's the basics of building a train route.
