I traveled to a city a while ago
and I did a series of talks for different organizations.
And most of the talks brought out very nice crowds
and it was really going very well.
Well, I showed up for one talk with a different organization
and, I have to tell you, seventeen people came.
Now, I had the bad reaction.
It wasn't just like, "Oh, nobody is here to see me."
What was I thinking?
"Ach, I'm tired and this is a big waste of my time."
Now as soon as I thought that in my head, I realized,
"Lori, this is a very bad attitude."
Why? Because everything happens for a reason.
And if seventeen people came, those seventeen people
needed to hear whatever I was about to say,
or I had to figure out why I'm here with those seventeen people.
So during the break after the talk
I went up to people and introduced myself and was talking to them,
and I was really trying to figure out what God was telling me,
why am I here? Why did I speak to these seventeen people?
So I went up to one guy, and what can I say?
Nice guy, single, 42, normal, healthy, no baggage,
never been married, became religious, seems terrific.
I don't meet a lot of people like that.
I don't meet a lot of men like that.
This guy, he was a catch! What can I say?
And I have some terrific women that I'm always looking for guys for.
So I start talking to him and we shmoozed,
and the Almighty put into my head the name of one girl.
One girl in particular I've been looking for,
trying to help her find a guy, for ten years. Ten years.
She had moved to New York but nothing was happening.
And this guy did not live in a major city, and I thought,
"You know what? He is off everybody's radar. He is like a hidden gem."
So I asked him, I said to him actually,
"I think I have a girl for you, and what's the name of your rabbi?"
So he gave me his name, I called up the rabbi,
he vouched for the guy, he said he is a terrific guy.
So I set him up with this girl from New York.
He went to New York, he really liked her.
She went to his city, she really liked him. They went back and forth;
they came to us in D.C. for Shabat. They have been dating, and dating, and dating,
and what can I tell you? She just sent me an email and said,
"We are in love. And are you available on this date?
Because we are looking to get married."
What is the message? Nothing is a waste of your time.
Everything happens for a reason. The Almighty has his plan.
So, when you are in a situation like I was in,
and you think... Ach. Think again. Look around,
ask around. You are there, for a reason.
I'm Lori, almost live.
