The School of Biomedical Informatics at UTHealth
celebrated its first completion ceremony in Second Life
The celebration ceremony recognized the first cohort of students
to complete the 36 semester credit hour master of science in applied health informatics
Notably the students completed the distance education program in one year
The completion ceremony was attended by Dr. Jack Smith Dean for SBMI,
Dr. Hongbin *** Associate Dean for Academic Affairs
and Dr. Jiajie Zhang Associate Dean for Research
The guest speaker, Dr. Susan Fenton from Texas State University
spoke on current job opportunities for health information technology graduates
Faculty teaching in the program include doctors
Brixey, Franklin, Hsu, Turley, and Vogler were also in attendance
This was yet another first for SBMI
For future students completing the Master of Science in Applied Health Informatics
we expect to continue the completion ceremony in Second Life
