One thing I wanted to ask you, technically, you're going like this... Is that an A minor?
This morning's workshop was with students from University of Nebraska, who are song writers,
who write their own songs and perform them,
and I was so pleased and thrilled with the level of talent.
The kids' writing is so sophisticated, emotionally and musically.
SINGING
Here at the Lied Center Susan Werner came and did a master class for us.
And so we played some music for her, and she gave us some constructive criticism and some things to work on for our songs.
SINGING... and now do the moves in the space, right?
This master class was great because of Susan Werner's dynamic personality.
She just had a lot of really great things to say, and I learned some things that can really improve my songs.
SINGING
These are quite thoughtful, accomplished young people.
It was exciting to discover them, and to work with them.
They take feedback so quickly. They sponge it right up and add it to their intuitive performance in a way that is magical to witness and participate in.
As a listener, I am looking for one thing... "the blue sneakers"... I am looking for "the chocolate-covered coffee bean eyes."
From this master class I'm definitely going to take ideas about how to improve my lyrics so other people can be drawn in.
And musically how I can alter things to keep people's attention and give them something new, I think.
SINGING
It's just awesome that the Lied Center can provide things like this for students like us, otherwise we wouldn't get chances like this.
