Welcome, my name Dr. Susan Jamieson
I'm Scottish trained family physician of 25 years experience
most of that working in the east in hong kong
where I've learnt to integrate
Western medicine with its scientific background
and indigenous concepts such as chinese and indian therapies
Today, I'm going to teach you a series of exercises I can guarantee will make
you feel better.
they'll augment your natural healing abilities
and lead to increased levels of well-being and relaxation. The exercises involve movement,
breathwork
and visualization of colour and light.
This is new information and will involve a quantum leap in thinking
Come, join me in this journey into the light.
The kidneys are in our low back.
essential for purification of our blood
200 quarts or 180 litres of fluid pass through them
per day to be purified
Now, above the kidneys are the adrenal glands
The adrenals mean
in Latin, super renal above the kidneys.
The adrenal glands, of course
responsible for our stress response, 'fight or flight'
They produce adrenaline acortisol
the function of which is to bunch up muscles so we can run fast
and make us breathe fast and circulate blood around the body
Chronic stress is exhausting
and patients always say to me 'I'm just tired all the time, I wake up exhausted I'm so
stressed.'
We use a lot of energy in that stress response
the physiological
response of the muscles and the blood but also emotional energy
And in Chinese medicine, the kidneys not only associated with fertility
and longevity but very much with energy
the stress response is basically one of fear and we all experience stress
anxiety
about our job prospects, economic climate or having no control in our
lives. It's the fear response.
I'm going to teach you exercises
to help you
eliminate this response from your body.
As Chinese medicine would say 'if we harbor fear in our kidneys, it will lead to disease.'
Feel the kidneys in the low back. I want you to lean forward breathing out
all the stress and fear
sitting up
visualize the blue colour of the sea and the kidneys.
Breathe out anxiety, imagine it floating from the back of your kidneys and breathe in and relax
and check into those kidneys
Breathe out again, release all that stress and fear
When you breathe in, visualize all the trust of the universe blooding into your body and feel your kidneys again.
Do this exercise daily for emotional balance.
The kidneys are responsible for
fluid balance in our body such as blood and lymph
two thirds of our planet is covered in water and it's blue
the colour of the sky is also blue
in a way, it's the colour of nature
So, the colour of the kidneys is blue.
and I'm inviting to make the intention that in visualizing this pure blue colour
you'll be energizing
purifying your own kidneys
Just as is important to keep our skies unpolluted
and our seas clean
we must drink lots of fresh pure water for our kidneys
and in working with
blue colour in the kidneys
we're connecting
our small energies as humans to that of the larger
energy of nature.
The energy of water has a lot to teach us.
We can be still and calm like a pond
and we can flow and be flexible like a stream or we can be turbulent and wild
like a whirl pool.
The geometry of the kidneys is a spiral
when you think about it, water goes down a plughole in a spiral
different directions, North and South hemisphere.
There are tornadoes in the sky
whirlpools in the sea.
The DNA at the core of every cell of our being
is in a spiral and releases photons of light
in the shape of the spiral.
Our Earth whirls round the Sun in a spiral
and our whole galaxy goes round in a spiral to the center of the universe
The nature of our world is one of a spiral
and so one of the kidney
Chi gong exercises is going to be spiraling our hips.
