Hi! I'm Christine from SoDomesticallyChallenged. Today, we're going to be organizing underneath
a bathroom sink using only baskets purchased at Dollar Tree.
Now, for some bathrooms, you might not want to go with this, maybe if it's a guest bath
or your master bathroom. You might not want to go with plastic stuff. In this situation,
we are organizing a children's bathroom, and so plastic, wipeable, replaceable bins in
my opinion are always the best way to go when you're dealing with kid's stuff. You know,
as the kid's grow, their needs are going to change, you're going to go through a lot of
different supplies, different sizes of things and let's face it: kids can be a little destructive.
So, these are always a great option and right now at Dollar Tree, you can pick up basically
any size basket in, I think, 4 different colors. I think there's red, orange, green & blue.
And you can pick these up, again for a dollar each and have a nice coordinating set for
your kid's bathroom.
Alright, so here we are underneath the sink. Fortunately, there's really not a whole lot
of stuff that's down here. But there is enough that it needs some serious help. We're going
to start by removing what's already in here.
Cleaning wipes Sport wrap
Hair products, already organized Hair brush
Flushable wipes case A bath bomb
Toothbrush holder Single suction cup
Paper towels Toilet paper
Bathtub grip Scented pearls
The lice kit: The most important thing that's in here.
Old bathtub sticky things to keep people from slipping
Old soap dispenser Kleenex Hand Towels: fantastic at cold & flu
season And our old shower head adapter
So I'm just going to take one of these cleaning wipes. I keep these around for really quick
clean ups, because in kid's bathrooms, there's always some kind of disaster that needs to
be cleaned up. I'm just going to take one of these and do a quick wipe down, since everything
is out of here.
Now one of the fundamentals of organizing is to sort like with like. In this case, there's
not a whole lot of like items. Really, the only thing we can do is separate cleaning
products and hair products. So, that's what we're going to do.
These clips and headbands and things are really not used very much in our house, so I'm going
to put them toward the back. That way, they're not in the way of more useful things.
Now, in keeping with like with like, I'm going to put our lice kit right in front of it because
we do access this more often than I would like to. So I'm going to put that right in
the front, right there.
On the other side, we're going to create a system for the cleaning products and toilet
paper. I'm going to start with our large red bin, and we're going to see if we can use
the red bin to store our toilet paper. It will be a little easier for the kids to get
to. It will keep everything neater and cleaner and you won't have a half empty thing of toilet
paper just thrown on top of whatever.
Alright, so this bin, it turns out can hold at least 6 rolls of toilet paper. And then,
if we wanted to, I think we could probably fit 2 more. And that's perfect. If you're
going to organize your toilet paper like this, it's always good to have a container that
can hold an entire package, because if you only hold 4, then you've got the extra 2 and
it's too easy sometimes to fill it up and have the extra 2 and say "well I'm going to
just put them on the counter" or "I'm just going to put them in front", and it just snowballs.
So, this is perfect. And it just fits right in there. I kind of want it toward the front.
We'll figure that out.
The old shower grip: we really don't use this anymore, so we're going to get rid of this.
The old wipes case: we don't use anymore. We're going to toss that.
Little suction things for the bottom of the tub and our first shower head: we're not going
to go back to using these. Our kids are getting a little old for these. So these are also
going to go away. Our little hand soap lion, as much as I love
him, I think we've had him long enough and I think it's time to let him go. So, he's
also going to go away. This is the lone hairbrush that's down here.
It doesn't need to be here. So this is going to get moved elsewhere in the house.
I don't care for these suction cups, so this is also going to go away.
Now we're going to use the smaller bin and we're going to see if we can fit our cleaning
products into it.
So, that's not too bad. I can just barely fit this roll of paper towels, but then once
this is in, our Clorox wipes and our little fragrance warmer beads fit in just perfectly.
So I'm actually going to take this and put it over here in front of the hair things since
they are so rarely accessed. This will keep it so that it's nice and in front and easy
to use.
As for this little zebra toothbrush holder guy: I'm still holding on to him, even though
we use automatic toothbrushes that don't fit in here. I feel like eventually, I'm going
to find something really cute to do with him, like maybe use him as a pen holder, or put
some kind of decoration that sticks out or something. Like, I just love him. He's so
cute. So, I'm going to hold him for a little bit, since we have the space to do it. And
I'm just going to put him behind all of this toilet paper here. So he's not cluttering
anything up and he's just out of the way.
Now as for our sports wrap: we haven't actually used this for sports. We've used it as a first
aid wrap. It looks a little bit less threatening than like a gauze or an ACE bandage or something
would. And it self sticks, so it's actually a pretty good thing to have on hand. So, I'm
going to move this to a first aid kit. So, we'll have easy access to it and not wonder
"didn't we have one of those wraps somewhere?" We'll have it when we need it.
Now as for our bath bomb: again, when you're thinking of "like with like", this is the
only bath kind of thing that was down here. So, what do we do with it? What we're going
to do is, I've pulled some other bath-time products from another cupboard that we have
above the toilet and since the kids are old enough now to be trusted to have soaps and
cleansers obviously under their sink, we can change the system that we used to have where
we would put soaps and bubble baths up high where they couldn't get to them. So now we're
going to group all of these together with the remaining small basket that I've already
placed behind the large pipe. Again, this isn't stuff that needs to be accessed very
often. It's extra soaps. It's vapor bubble bath for when they're congested, and a single
bath bomb. So, it's okay to put it way in the back where it's a little difficult to
access. We're just maximizing the space that we have.
Now the only thing that's left are our hand towels. We don't have any plans to use these
anytime soon and so this is going to go with the rest of our paper storage on shelves in
our garage and it will clear the space from here, so that it's one less thing cluttering
up the space. And, voila! There you have it. The major mess that there used to be is completely
gone and we only spent $3 on organizing stuff. We didn't even get to the larger baskets.
And that's it for our under the sink bathroom organizing. If this video helped you, please
