Wishing you a great weekend and greeting you this lovely morning. Here with us is Diego Villafana and he is representing a program
called California Connects, we’re going to see what this program is about and who can benefit from it. Good morning Diego, how are
you? Good morning, I’m very good and yourself? Very good thank you, it’s a pleasure having
you here. We were talking via telephone and computer and you mentioned to me the program you are working with. I’m going to let
you tell us a little bit more about it, so that the viewers at home can learn what this program is all about. Tell me about this program, how
and why it was started? And who could benefit from this? Ok well this is a three year program that was
created after a partnership between two non-profit organizations, Great Valley Center (GVC) and Foundation for California Community
Colleges (FCCC). The goal of this program is to increase use and access of computers and broadband internet in communities who are not
yet connected. According to statistics the lowest numbers of users exist in the Spanish speaking and low-income communities. So we
are here to increase the use of the computer and internet and narrow the divide that exists between people that know how to use
computers and the internet and those who do not.
