Nicole: I'm Nicole Naum and I am a traffic and criminal defense attorney with Price Benowitz.
The commonwealth of Virginia has laws like no other state, and are notoriously tough
on traffic and criminal offenses.
Typically, what happens is you get pulled over and the police officer comes up to your
vehicle; hands you a citation, smiles at you, has you sign it and says; "See you at court,"
So you go home. Most people get on the internet, and get the staggering result that reckless
driving is actually a criminal offense in Virginia.
But there is hope, you are not alone, you are in good company and we can help you with
your case.
Because reckless driving is a class 1 misdemeanor it is critical that you do not go unrepresented
to court, there are many, many options that are on the table; until they're off the table,
they're on the table.
There are ways to do traffic school for a dismissal. There are ways to get it reduced
to a speeding infraction, as well as a traffic infraction called improper driving, that can
only be done by a prosecutor who we call the Commonwealth in Virginia, or the judge.
If you are facing a reckless driving charge, the number one thing that you can do to help
yourself is get an experienced traffic attorney, who knows how to help you, and will get you
the best possible result for your case.
