Hi, Phil with XenonSupply.com today
we have a 2009 Mercedes Benz C-350
we'll be installing HID lights on. This
is compatible with
both the C-250 and the C-350. Let's pop the
hood and get started.
Let's go ahead and remove the old halogen bulb from the passenger's
side of the vehicle. Take the
dust cover, turn counterclockwise and remove, put
that in a safe place.
You're gonna remove the wire connector that's holding the H7 bulb,
and then remove the clip.
And you can remove the H7 bulb. Now once you have the bulb out
you're also gonna want to take out that clip so we can make some modification
to it for the HID installation.
What we have here are the H7 brackets that hold the bulb in place.
Now we've made modifications to this one where we've curved
one side of the bracket a little bit over, and that just helps to keep this bracket
in place when you install the HIDs. Just take
some needle nose pliers
grab on to one end. Just
slowly bend it over. And that's
all it takes.
In order to install the new HID bulbs, you're gonna have to drill a 1in hole into the dust cover
to allow wiring to get through to the ballasts.
As you can see here we've already got an example
and we're gonna make it on the other
side.
Let's go ahead and install the HID on
the passenger's side for the headlight housing.
You are going to want to extend the wires here pulling on the
bulb forcing
the wire through the grommet
to the very end so you have enough room to work with.
Now a couple things to note with this installation,
there's a notch groove here on the H7 bulb base.
That is going to match up right here with the notch
in the headlight housing.
You're also gonna wanna put the
clip on
with the triangular portion facing down
on the back of the bulb so it creates pressure. Okay?
Go ahead and put the wires on first,
put the wires first through here.
and then get this right side
back into
the headlight housing first.
Once that side is in
get the left side in. And now you
should have enough room with the wiring to work with
to get the bulb on.
Into the notch, pull your
wires back,
and the clip
should come right over the top.
Make sure it's secure.
Connect these wires to the connector here.
Now becuse Mercedes doesn't specify what's ground and what's positive,
just pick.
And when you go and plug this into the ballast,
make sure you test the connection
before reattaching the dust cover
onto the headlight housing.
The installation is the same on the driver's side as well.
As you can see we're gone and mounted the Premium Ballast to the
wiring harness here, it's
pretty secure, not gonna go anywhere,
we've also made our connections
from the bulb and ballast here, As
well as here, male and female side
and
tested the lights to see whether or not our connection here works, and the lights do work. Let's
move over to the driver's side and see where we're we'll put that ballast
On the driver's side we used two zip ties, one right
and one right here,
secured the ballast in place. As well as
made our connections and tested the wiring to make sure they worked.
Let's go ahead
and see what they look like.
Let's see how these lights work.
