Hello everyone! Placement matches aren't going that great and I'm pretty much on verge of
raging (hardcore mode) so I thought I'd make a little video about something that I get
asked about quite often: should you take ignite or exhaust ?
Before I get started I should tell you that summoner spells are probably getting re-worked
soon. Right now we're on patch 4.1. I'll make another one of these videos after ignite,
heal and exhaust get patched, but until then, your main choices other than flash are exhaust
and ignite.
So let me see if I can make this simple for you guys.
In Solo Queue you usually want to get ignite for a simple reason: it helps you get kills.
This is pretty darn important because getting fed during the laning phase is pretty much
the easiest way of actually winning a game. There are a few exceptions, though, and a
few things you should have in consideration, so I'll just list them for you:
1) Are there AD Assassins on the enemy team like Zed or Kha'Zix?
2) Do they have any late game hyper carries like Vayne or Jax?
3) Are you going against a sustain lane? 4) What AD Carry do you have laning with you?
Is it a hyper carry with a weak laning phase?
If you're playing against an assassin or hyper carries, you should consider exhaust. If you're
playing against both types, then exhaust is mandatory. You should also consider taking
the spell if your ADC needs some extra protection. Take Vayne, she doesn't do so great in lane
but she's a beast later on if she has enough room. Exhaust will make both the laning phase
a lot safer for her, and it will also help you peel during the mid and late game. Now,
if you're going against a sustain lane, ignite is even more useful because of the healing
reduction.
It's also a matter of personal preference. Since I'm a really aggressive Support, I tend
to use ignite most of the times. Every time I get exhaust is because I'm either going
against a couple of hyper carries or a couple of assassins. If I'm playing with a Vayne,
I also tend to use exhaust instead.
Hope that helps you out guys and if you don't hear from me in the next couple of weeks,
I probably got arrested for raging and burning someone's house down. Wish me luck, and see
you guys next time.
