Sex, gender, politics and power: Is that important to know what your neighbour
do in his own bed?
Lesbians, homosexuals, bisexuals, transsexuals, transvestites, and heterosexuals live in the same planet, but in different worlds. Panzine n6 has ...
Toronto Pride Parade 2008,in which the Canadian Forces participated for the first time, something that won't happen in Brazil in a near future.
Panzine is presented in a week when the XVII Aids International Conference in City of Mexico where lines of direction are being discussed...
to control the epidemic, stop the prejudice, and acquire financial aid and support for Aids/*** prevention and combat programs.
And now, Panzine.
We do stamp values on bodies, practices, and on sex. I believe we have to precisely look into sex not as a biological desire,
which can be easily masked as a divine ordinance,
to understand the way we relate to each other sexually. We need at least to understand human relations historically...
And not close our eyes to the diversity of the humane societies, because diversity is needed.
Sometimes we turn ourselves blind to some kinds of violence that happen more often than a ***, beating.
These are information collected by the São Paulo's Pride Parade opinion survey -
done with the public during the parade - in 2005 and 2006, and published in 2007.
Fifty five percent of the interviewed commented that the aggressions related to LGBT and T group...
Were verbal in its majority, threatening, intimidation, not configuring a physical aggression.
But difficulties to find work, disqualification, receiving 'the bad look'. These things still happening, but in major cities,
Metropolis, these are visible changes.
At the same time, when the change is visible the reaction from the conservative side of these societies also appears.
The symbolic violence is more present than the physical violence, but we should not have an ingenuous optimism...
And say we're less vulnerable today.
I much prefer call it The *** Diversity Parade, even with the gays having a very important responsibility...
structuring the parades around the world, today there is a plurality of society segments dialoguing,
discussing, negotiating, and all of this segments are organizing this particular event.
You can see lots of heterosexuals being part of Parade, and even them are feeling oppressed by moral norm of life completely against ...
Their openness, for example for not wanting to constitute a 'canonic' style family.
That's why I call it a Diversity Parade.
I believe the financial aspect of the Pride Parade in São Paulo, generating almost R$200 million (CN$132.5 million)...
In this last parade - this are official numbers,
I don't think that's enough to convince the public forces and the society as a whole if the organized groups...
And even some them part of government, NGOs, creating a viable way.
For example; The police was mobilized, departments of the City, the whole media support,
Even though we know there is still a tense and problematic discussion about the issue of sexuality,
But the Parade still happening in the dimensions you said, the biggest Parade in the world.
I believe we should denaturalize gender and sex, understanding these are social and cultural markers/stampers historically constituted.
To try only biologically understand this issue is very harmful not only to the GLBT and T segments of society,
But also to women, black people, some ethnicity.
I believe that living in a non-misogynistic, non homophobic, and non racist world would benefit all of us.
We all feel constrained by preconception and the violence surrounding us.
To built a plural society based on the respect of our differences, guaranteeing the access to our rights means to work towards a full citizenship.
To finish, the happiness is not at the end of the rainbow, happiness is the rainbow, because it's prismatic, luminous, colourful,
Full of hope, and indicates the storm is over and we'll have a sunny day ahead of us.
