03.06.2013 This is a Turkish Doctor speaking: I was at Nazım Hikmet Cultural Center in
Ankara last night. You know the place has been trasformed into an emergency infirmary.
I was there to help the people injured by the police attack. I would like to underline
that we are not linked to any kind of political body or organism. We work for no political
party. We are just trying to go above and beyond the oath we took.. to justify the reasons
of wearing this uniforms.. I would briefly like to tell you what has happened so that
you could have an idea. Police and special forces surrounded the building knowing that
it was being used as an infirmary. They broke the windows and the doors, and threw pepper
gas capsules inside the building several times. When we were out of breath and ran outside,
they started kicking and tossing every single one of us aside like garbage. I was one of
them as well.. After a couple of kicks, I got hit in the head. But we are not afraid..
Remember that even during wars, there are ethical principles to follow. You never attack
hospitals or infirmaries. Turkish police went beyond this line as well. I was beaten last
night, I am not afraid, I will go there again tonight and will get beaten again if necessary.
