The question asked, "How do you switch hit?" A switch hitting simply means that the player
is proficient both at hitting from the right side of the plate and from hitting form the
left side of the plate. The same fundamentals applies to a right handed hitter as does the
left handed hitter. So the fundamentals that you're trying to develop as a hitter to get
all your fundamentally part, fundamental parts of the swing exactly correct would have to
be done both from the right side, and also, from the left side. So, whether you're a right
handed hitter in this case or a left handed hitter in this case. Basically, the same fundamentals
of the swings applies to both. But you work at your game to the point that you can hit
from both sides of the plate. The advantage of being a switch hitter is, when the pitcher
is a right handed pitcher, you can hit from the left side and it makes the curve ball
from the right handed pitcher break to you and it's easier to hit. Any kind of breaking
ball breaking back toward you is easier to make contact with than a ball breaking away
from you. So, if the right handed pitcher is the pitcher you're facing, you would probably,
as a switch hitter, face him from the left side. If it's a left handed pitcher, then
you would simply switch to the other side of the plate and hit from the right side and,
again, all the breaking pitches would be coming to you instead of going away from you, which
in theory, at least, makes you a more proficient hitter from both sides. But remember, the
same fundamentals apply to both and you have to work on your game as if you're learning
to hit from the first time, for the first time from both sides. But, basically, that's
how you become a switch hitter.
