The Alt Pounce is like the Morph Pounce, but it can be done near cliffs without a stealth
track.
It lets you pounce and then double jump at a high speed.
Position yourself at a cliff, press forward, and pounce.
If done correctly, the pounce will be cancelled but you'll retain its speed.
The Alt Pounce is extremely hard to perform consistently, because the timing is tight
and it's dependent on the geometry.
But it lets you completely skip this map, Barriers 2.
For this map, a wall normally raises, preventing you from accessing the exit, but you can ignore
it entirely this way.
The type of edge you can perform the trick on varies, but it seems like it requires you
to fall briefly first.
For better reference, here's a slowed down clip.
If it can be done consistently, the Alt Pounce can make any level of the game vulnerable
to sequence breaks.
You can use the trick to mess up this level a bit as well by not activating the trigger
for the exit door.
This makes for some weird occlusion errors, and also allows you to permanently lock the
end of the stage.
If you don't trigger the exit closing, you can still activate the Sync Node that's supposed
to remove it.
Once the barrier is activated, the only way to beat the stage is to use the Alt Pounce.
