In this movie we will be demonstrating how-to create and order a custom print size using Photoshop and the Miller’s Remote Suite + Print Products software.
For our demonstration, let’s pretend our client has an antique frame that requires a custom print size.
First, open and crop the image in Photoshop to the desired print size.
In this example, I have cropped the image to create the final size of a 5 inch by 9 inch print.
To order a print of this size, we will add a canvas around the image, sized to the next largest standard print size to accommodate the custom
print our client needs.
For this example, the next largest print size will be a 5 inch by 10 inch photograph. In Photoshop, go to Image > Canvas Size, and the Canvas Size dialog
box will be displayed. Input the Width and Height as 5 and 10 for a 5x10 canvas.
Next, we will choose the Anchor point of where the image is to be placed on the canvas.
With the default anchor selected, the image will be printed in the center of the canvas.
This will result in ½” of extra canvas on the top and bottom of the resulting print.
Click on one of the anchor points to change where the image will be placed on the canvas.
For this example, let’s click on the top, center anchor.
Now, all of the extra canvas will be forced to the bottom of our image.
One last option, is to add color to the extra canvas.
I like to add a color so it’s obvious where the photo ends and the extra canvas begins.
Click on the pull down menu to select a color.
Or, simply click on the color box and choose a color from the color picker.
Click OK. And, click OK again.
And now as you can now see, the image has been placed on a 5x10 canvas, and the extra canvas has been added to the bottom.
Let’s save the file, and order our photograph in the Miller’s Remote Suite+ Print Products software.
As I select the image, you will see the extra canvas as a band of color at the bottom of the image.
The colored canvas will serve as a reminder to order the image as a 5x10 print.
Select the image, and order it as a 5x10.
And there you have it. Ordering a custom sized print couldn’t be easier.
