In the U.S.... Arizona Governor Jan Brewer has vetoed a controversial
bill that would have allowed businesses to refuse service to gay and lesbian customers.
Brewer, a Republican,.. said the law could result in unintended and negative consequences
such as hurting the state's economy by driving away businesses.
The state capital of Arizona, Phoenix, is the host city for next year's Super Bowl,
and the bill raised concerns the event, which is likely to bring in hundreds of millions
of dollars to the local economy, could be moved.
