[MUSIC PLAYING]
GIRL: Hi, Rojo!
WOMAN: My husband lost his job.
He worked for a company for 14 years, and with this declining
economy, he was let go.
To this day, we are still trying to make ends meet.
And unfortunately, food is something that hasn't been so
much of an abundance for us.
It's just really hard, because our children want something to
eat, or something to drink, or something.
And it's hard because the refrigerator is empty.
There's nothing in there.
MAN: When the money came up really short, and the
cupboards were bare and there wasn't a whole lot in the
fridge, and I knew that having two small children, we needed
to do something.
WOMAN: Because we met income guidelines of being in need,
we went and applied for food stamps.
Also, we're eligible for WIC.
MAN: It's a program that gives you the necessities for
growing children up until five years old.
WOMAN: It is hard when you see you're running low, and you
have kids to feed.
The food pantry that I go to makes you feel like you can
feed your family.
WOMAN: All righty, that one's ready!
WOMAN: My grandson, Timothy, notices, sometimes, the hard
times when there's certain things that he asks me at the
grocery store that he would like to have, and I have to
tell him, no.
WOMAN: If I could recommend anything to a family going
through a similar situation, would be just don't be afraid
to ask for help.
ELMO: Oh, hi!
Welcome to Sesame Street!
Who are you?
HAMBURGER BUN: We're the super foods!
CHEESE: We're healthy foods!
BROCCOLI: Who are also heroes!
BANANA: And help those in need!
ELMO: Oh, good!
Because Elmo needs help figuring out what this is!
BROCCOLI: That's a Kiwi!
ELMO: A kiwi?
CHEESE: Yes!
ELMO: Hm.
Oh!
Wow!
That's cool!
SUPER GROVER: Wow!
ELMO: Elmo never ate a kiwi before.
Elmo likes it!
ALL: Yay!
[SINGING]
Elmo tried it, tried it.
ELMO: [SINGING]
And Elmo really liked it!
And Elmo promises that--
ALL: [SINGING]
Try, try, again!
ELMO: Elmo really loves Kiwi!
Thank you!
ART SMITH: Hi everyone, I'm Chef Art Smith, and we're at
the Chicago Green City Market where everything's local and
fresh and delicious.
Your mom's grilled chicken is going to make four meals.
Beautiful!
That's amazing
WOMAN: It's very important to eat healthy, because what you
put into your body now is going to determine where
you're going to be 20, 30, 40 years from now.
