Day 16 - Copenhagen - Stockholm
Helly everybody. What you can see here is Kastellet in Copenhagen. It is a fortification which is still used,
so there are still Danish soldiers there. This is a church nearby which name I do not know right now but I found it quite nice.
Kastellet is sorrounded by a moat - this is a lake in front of it and this is the second wall in front of it.
There we can see the moat and a statue of a soldier. There is the bridge and behind it there is the actual wall.
Now I am on top of that wall and there are the complexes inside the fortification where the soldiers live.
Kastellet is shaped like a star as it was common then. I think it was build in the 18th century.
I almost were able to film some soldiers then but they marched away too fast unfortunately.
I do not know what this statue means anymore ... and there was the "little mermaid" which is not there anymore
because it will be at the EXPO 2010 in Shanghai.
One thing about Copenhagen in general: It is a beautiful city but also very expensive.
I am afraid everywhere in Scandinavia the food is much more expensive than you are used to in Germany or even Switzeland.
The Danish currency is the crown as it is in Sweden, but one Euro equals about eight Danish crowns and about ten Swedish crowns.
That was the US embassy right now and now we are on our way to Stockholm. That is the big bridge to Sweden, the Oresund bridge.
That is an Oresundtog (Oresund-train) which goes over the bridge and I filmed that in Malmö already.
I wanted to show you the X 2000 train here which is the fastest swedish train and also the most chic I think.
It is even more stylish than the ICE 3 with this wooden interior. I wanted to use the Intercity from Malmö to Stockholm
but all IC-connections were cancelled that day. That was also a problem later on, but I will talk about that later.
So I had to pay about 7 Euros for my reservation on the X 2000.
This is the route to Stockholm and you can see the Swedish forests and lakes there.
Unfortunately I was not able to film many of these lakes because when I saw one and started my camera it had already vanished.
That is the fate of of an Interrail-traveller with a camera: Most of the time the things you wanted to film are vanished.
So much for this day. Have a nice week!
