Hey everybody, Caleb Messer with GME Supply Company. Welcome to our beautiful showroom.
Today we're going discuss job site communication, whether you're the manager trying to keep
your people productive or the people that have to do the running back and forth, it's
nice to not have to wait ten minutes to get information to-and-fro from climbing back
up and down the tower or having to walk to different parts of the job site to talk to
people. One potential inexpensive way to take advantage
of some new technology is two way radios. They're a lot cheaper than cell phones, a
lot more convenient, and we've got a few different options that we can evaluate.
I know when you hear the word Kenwood, you probably think car stereos. Well that's because
most of the money that Kenwood spends on their ProTalk Communication radios goes on research
and development instead of marketing. That's what we're here for.
They have a couple of different options, just like their competitors whenever it comes to
two-way radios in the business class marketplace. The radio on my right is the TK3400-UP and
the radio on my left is the TK3230-K. Both of these radios, the ones that we sell, come
in the UHF Class to diminish the likely hood that you'll have any kind of frequency interference.
They both other really great, but slightly different solutions.
The 3400-UP is designed with a military grade finish. It has a die-cast chassis and it's
weather resistant. You won't want to go scuba diving with it, but if you're buying a radio,
you're probably not spending all day at your desk, so it'll survive a 5-10 foot fall and
it'll be ok if you're working out in a rainstorm a little bit. It's a 4-channel, 2 watt radio
so it'll give you plenty of power to talk back and forth no matter where you are on
the job site. It comes with all of the accessories and items that you need to be able to use
it straight out of the box and it's got some enhanced audio quality over their last series
to make it 25-30 percent louder than their previous units. With 22 hours of talk time
on a single charge, the TK3400-UP isn't something that you have to worry about making sure you
have your charger on the job site when you're working all day. Also it only takes two and
a half hours to recharge so if you have quick turn around time, or the boss has got you
on a tight schedule you can always have a charged radio.
The TK3230-K, on the other hand, slightly different. It's a little bit more nimble,
a little bit more modern. It's got the LCD screen, which a lot of people like. You don't
have to guess the battery level. It gives you a heads up display. You know what channel
you're on, you know everyone's communicating back and forth. It's got a small and sleek
design and it still boasts similar volume and communication power of the larger series,
the more rugged ones. With the 3230-K, it's got an impressive talk
time... it lasts for 14 hours on a full battery and it doesn't take long to charge it either.
The charger has been recently redesigned it charges the radio back to 100% in two and
a half hours. At the end of the day, either one is a great
choice, it just depends on what you're looking for with your company. And all Kenwood radios
have some additional rebates. And they all come with 2-year manufacturers warranties.
If you'd like additional information an either of these, you can check out our website at
