SPEAKER 1: We'll talk about each of those in detail.
And again, they will come up.
So the hypothalamus will come up in the chapter on ***
activity and drives in general.
The hippocampus will come up in memory.
So will the amygdala.
So again, this is an overview.
Remember that.
This is not the end-all.
DIANA DINITTO: If I was going to give a tip to a 398T
instructor, I would say, help the students get some
real-life stand-up teaching experience in the class.
Help them prepare well for that experience, and then let
them go out there and do it.
And we do it in real classes.
In our 398T class, they go out, and they
teach in real classes.
And so I've been very lucky, too, that my colleagues have
allowed students to come in and give presentations in the
class or lead class discussions or do
other kinds of things.
Of course, sometimes, these students are already AI--
not AIs, but TAs in classes.
And so there's that kind of opportunity.
Sometimes they've done it in others universities, where
instructors have allowed them to come in and lecture or
teach classes on other kinds of topics.
But that's very important.
Or to get some experience in the 398T class, teaching a
basic concept in the field to their colleagues and to get
their colleagues reaction to that as well.
SPEAKER 2: Well, that's a nice experiment.
How do you guys feel about that?
How do you feel about the experiment?
Did you feel like it was teaching you?
Did you feel like-- the way we had you switch teams, even the
music, did any of this come into play as far as your
learning or you thinking through this process?
SPEAKER 3: So let me know when everybody has their set.
What I'm going to do in every slide is going to show you
what color to remember so you don't have to
remember what they are.
But hold up your answer to each one.
I'm going to pose a few ethical situations, and we'll
see how we fare on them, and we'll discuss those that are
interesting.
DIANA DINITTO: We have the students videotape their
teaching so that they can look on it and reflect on it.
They can look at it and reflect on it, and we can look
at it, too, and give them some feedback as well.
