By now most people know the canon story of Sheev Palpatine. If you don’t, consider
checking out this video first. Because today we’re talking about the Legend of Emperor
Palpatine, and what he did after the events of Return of the Jedi. That’s right, after.
Palpatine was a master of the Dark Side power known as essence transfer. In the event of
his death, Palpatine made clones of himself into which he could transfer his consciousness.
Six years after his original death, Palpatine resurfaced with the Eclipse Star Destroyer
and the World Devastators. He revealed himself to Luke Skywalker, who chose to become Palpatine’s
apprentice, planning to destroy the Dark Side from within.
While Luke successfully aided the New Republic, and even destroyed many of Palpatine’s clones,
he eventually succumbed to the power of the Sith Lord. He was only able to return to the
light thanks to his sister. Enraged, Sidious summoned a Force Storm, but the twin children
of Anakin Skywalker overpowered him, and he was killed by the very storm he created.
Unfortunately Luke didn’t destroy all the clones, and Palpatine was able to find yet
another body to transfer to. But this clone had been genetically tampered with along with
the source genetic material. He began to rapidly waste away with the New Republic bearing down.
In a final desperate move, Palpatine attempted to overtake the consciousness of Anakin Solo,
the son of Han and Leia, but he was foiled by a dying Jedi that intercepted and bound
his spirit in the Force, finally killing the Sith lord
for good.
