Hi, I'm Kim Stoegbauer, Party Stylist with The TomKat Studio.
I'm here with Pottery Barn Kids, sharing fresh ideas for spring baby showers.
Today we're going to be showing you how to make tissue paper poms
which are one of my favorite decorations for parties and showers.
They're super easy to make, you can make them in any color scheme,
to match whatever theme you're doing, and they make such a big impact when you hang them around the party.
All you need for this easy project is tissue paper, scissors, a ruler, pencil, and ribbon.
The first thing you want to start with is tissue paper.
Find the colors that match your color scheme best,
but you can also use varying colors like we did here, with the gray.
We used a light gray and a dark gray.
You'll need twelve sheets of 18 by 26 paper, but you can use different sizes based on what size you want them to be.
The next thing we're going to do is make marks on our tissue paper,
to guide where we're going to fold it.
You just need to make two or three marks at one and a half inches each to get your folding going.
You're going to accordion fold it back and forth the length of the sheet.
Fold it in half to guide you to the center.
Around that center you're going to tie your ribbon into a double knot.
Now we;re going to use our scissors to cut each end of your folded tissue paper.
You can either cut this in a point or rounded. I prefer the rounded. It's a much softer look.
The last thing you're going to do is fan out your palm. You're going to spread each piece of tissue paper
away from the opposite side to create a fluffy completed palm.
Now you're ready to hang your palms. These tissue paper palms are perfect for any occasion.
They're inexpensive, easy to make, and they look fabulous.
