>> [REPORTER]: For the first time since 2003, the RIT men's hockey team has a local on its
roster. Playing in his first game for the tigers, freshman forward Dan Schuler made
quite an impression, assisting on the game winning overtime goal at Michigan. Schuler
grew up in Webster. He played two years at Aquinas before heading to a boarding school
in Connecticut. From there, he ventured to British Columbia, where he played two years
of junior hockey. After all that, he's glad to be at RIT, majoring in Biomedical Science
and playing hockey back home.
>> [SCHULER]: RIT had the program that I was interested in going into and it's home. After
four years away, why not spend some time with my family you know. I'm glad to be able to
get out there a couple of shifts each period and hopefully I'll be able to work my way
up from there.
>> [WILSON]: He played very strong. I thought he was someone in the game didn't show a lot
of nerves for your first NCAA game, being on the road against Michigan. It would be
easy to be intimidated, but I thought he played a very strong game. He was someone that, what
we talked about, what we want is someone who's strong on the puck. I thought he made good
plays. I think it was a good building block for him to try and get better from his first
game, but it was a good start for him.
