Hello everyone! Now begins our storybook time.
Today, we'll be introducing the story of "The Ant and the Grasshopper."
The ants and the grasshopper will appear in this story. I wonder, what this story could be about...
Well, let's watch together.
Start! (Let's begin!)
Once upon a time there lived some ants and a grasshopper.
On a hot summer day, the grasshopper was singing happily in a field.
Suddenly, he noticed a group of ants working very hard.
「おーい、アリさん。こんな暑い夏の日に、 なぜそんなに汗をびっしょりかいて働いているんだい?」 "Hey, ants! Why are you working up such a sweat on such a hot day?"
The grasshopper asked.
Then, one of the ants replied, "Hi, Grasshopper! We're storing food now for the cold winter."
"Hmmm... Why are you bothering to do that? There's still plenty of food."
"Now, since it's summer, there's still lots of food, but that food will all be gone when winter arrives."
The grasshopper laughed. "Hahahahahaha."
"Summer has just begun. I'll worry about winter when it arrives."
And with that, he started singing his song again, and the ants continued working.
Finally summer ended and autumn began.
While the ants worked hard, the grasshopper sang even more merrily.
Lalalalala~♪
And at last, the cold winter arrived.
The grasshopper stopped singing and started looking for food.
However, all the plants had withered and died and he could find nothing to eat.
"Ah, I'm starving. Isn't there anything to eat?"
Then, he remembered the ants who had been gathering lots food.
"Ah, yes! The ants must have lots of food."
The grasshopper rushed over to the ants' house.
"Excuse me. I'm so hungry I could die. Could you give me something to eat?"
One of the ants answered the door.
"I'm sorry, but I only have enough food for my family and can't give any to you.
That's why I told you that you should have gathered food while it was still summer."
With that said, the ant shut the door.
The grasshopper was left alone, shivering from the cold, hungry and dejected.
Now, he regretted only singing and playing throughout the summer.
The moral of the story is, if you don't think ahead and are lazy, you'll eventually get hurt.
The End
