- Hi. - So you... Speak!
- So! - Hi.
- But is there some salt inside? - No.
- Potatoes. - The is ketchup but not...
Dropshard.
- I've brought it. - Home.
- There is ketchup but mayonese? - Seba.
Dropshard were set up three years ago by the intention of a group of young students: Seba, Alex and I.
So we decided to form this group after our last experience, the "Antares" project.
We decided to play progressive genre because this genre is really changeable,
it permits to open to new repertories comparing to the others genres presented in Italy.
That is why we tried to find new components to have the group completely established
and then play our music.
Now we are in our rehearsal room that is a house amid a small town.
We are currently working on two things: one is a mini-tour in Tuscany
and the other, much more important, is preparing our first CD!
We have taken advantage of this summer break to work harder and harder on this new cd.
It is a suite that lasts 30 minutes.
With a Bonus Track.
We usually get up at 8am and at 9am, after breakfast, we start studying for the whole morning.
Then we have lunch in a real short time and then we start rehearsals,
we rehearse all the afternoon and the result is absolutely great!
Just to know this week we rehearsed 17 hours instead of four as we basically do... maximum!
This week we have felt different states of feeling: from joyful moments to foolish and angry ones in a quick,
in particular coming from him and from Enrico!
Enrico is in our band from one year, before he was the guitarist in another rock band.
Then he had contacted us, he was so excited and enthousiastic.
Enrico was a wonderful surprise since I took part in this band.
There are keyboard, bass and guitar players that are pretty good
but Enrico is really a great singer.
At that time, our singer decided to leave our band and we're not trying to do a smart choice for the next one.
We doesn't know what to search exactly, because the other singer had a completely different voice.
Maybe we were searching for a singer that had the same way of singing.
- Enrico had a different one, for sure. - Yes.
But after having recorded all the vocal tests he really impressed us and we called him immediately.
I can give for sure an hand for some stylistic and compositional choice,
as I was a guitarist and flute player.
- He composes his vocal sessions... - Breaks the balls in the right way... - Yeah.
Let's say that it's better if he is really demanding that makes the musical work go ahead!
I like anyway to give an hand in the musical process,
but I focalize my work on the voice and choir section.
I think we are very lucky to have him with us.
Alex is the main organizer of the group, he is our "boss",
he reminds us to the objective, he does everything for Dropshard,
concerning the search for events concerts and to keep the contact between the band and the world around us.
He has an original personality, but without him we'll be lost.
Tommy is the drummer of the group, he's the beat mind, he is the metronome.
For me Tommy is a great reference point in this band,
he's always very kind with me and he tries all the time to encourage me how to improve my performances.
He always have good ideas about rythm and music, he's the pivot,
He always tries to be the pillar of the band, the core point
where all common ideas and disagreements streams.
Tommaso, our tall keyboard player...
For me entering the band has been a very enriching and hard experience,
because I arrived when there was a big change in progress.
New and positive things would happen but there was a problem.
A long range of concerts were in program for the spring and the first half of summer,
so I had to learn in just one month an abundant hour of performance.
I would call Tommy “the man who never sleeps”!
He spent every minute of the day behind his keyboard,
hardly studying his parts that are the most complicated here.
He has a great mind, I like him, he's a good guy...
he is really involved, and what impress me most is that
he started studying keyboards three years ago, since he was 20.
When I started playing guitar six years ago, after three years I was not as able as him.
Now he's with us, plays his instrument with ease, he is so enthusiastic about it,
wrote his parts, his sounds, he has a strong passion...
...and above all he's not bad at all!
I have always tried to improve and adapt my parts to the ensemble.
So, in this particular case I composed all the five sessions of the suite.
Seba, alias Sebastiano Benatti, composes every Dropshard song.
He is our guitarist, a good musician, and he's technically talented.
He's a great musician and it's a pleasure to play with him,
because for us it's really important to be inspired by emotions,
not just by notes, pauses and technique.
