Brie and Clementine Canapés call for clementine oranges.
Sometimes they're referred to as tangerines
because they have similar characteristics.
This is actually a type of mandarin orange.
But it has an easy-to-peel skin; comes off real easily; virtually seedless,
they're sweet, they're juicy, and they're very low in acid.
The recipe only calls for one, but I'm gonna buy the whole box,
because these also make a great snack.
The cheese in this recipe is a triple crème brie.
Now this cheese is very rich and is very delicious.
It has a silky texture and an earthy, robust flavor
that becomes even more pronounced as it ripens.
It's gonna make a nice contrast
to the tangy, sweet, bright flavors of the citrus fruit.
Our Triple Fruits spreads are a nice combination of different fruits,
so there are several to pick from.
They actually have less sugar than other fruit spreads,
and they have a really bright, delicious, fresh flavor to them.
I think you'll really enjoy it.
I have everything, and I'm off.
It doesn't take much time to peel these clementines.
We're just gonna peel off the skin very, very easily, like that.
And then you wanna remove any little segments that adhere to it,
like this; separate this out; any little membranes.
All right, that's good.
I have some of these done already.
Now these just get cut in half on a diagonal, like this; very easy.
Let's do another one.
Okay, now let's move over and assemble some of these.
I'm starting out with some toasted baguettes.
And what I did with these is I simply, after slicing them,
put them on a cookie sheet, stuck them in a pre-heated oven;
350 degrees for about 10 minutes, until they're lightly toasted;
no more than that.
To start out with, we're adding a slice of brie cheese.
Now what I did with the brie is I sliced it while it was--
when it just came out of the refrigerator,
because when it's colder, it's easier to slice.
But the brie tastes better when it comes to room temperature, so.
On top of that we'll add just a dollop of our Triple Fruit spread.
Mm-hmm, there we go; just enough to sort of act as a binder
and hold on this little segment of clementine; just like this.
And finally on top of that, a very little light sprinkling
of toasted sesame seeds for that added little bit of toasted, nutty crunch.
And that's all there is to it.
