Well it has a really good reputation, the course, and it's obviously one of the best
in the country and I came to visit the campus for my interview and it was just absolutely
beautiful and you know, I just knew I wanted to study here and the course is a really,
really good course. The fact that you go on placement in the second year, not the first
year, means you're completely prepared for going out on placement, and they make sure
you've got all the knowledge that you need by the time you go out. Also, aside from the
course the fact that it's got a really good sporting reputation and loads of activities
going on, apart from the actual course itself got me quite interested.
I think it's good that all of our lectures are done on the city, you know, on a hospital
site. It makes it feel a bit more real and obviously when we're out on placement we're
going to be working in a hospital, so instead of just sitting in a lecture theatre it does
make it quite relevant to our course. And the fact that we do mix a lot with the third
years as well and the first years means that we're all quite close and just, you know,
it's something to aspire to, seeing the third years out there and how well they're doing.
Everyone has a tutor and I think a tutor has about four tutees so, you know, they're there
to answer any of your questions, any problems you've got go straight to them and they're
really understanding. Like I've had to contact my tutor and she was always there for me,
which was really nice. The lecturers are so friendly, and so easy to get on with, so even
when it's one lecturer and fifty, you know, the whole cohort, doing a lecture, if you've
got a question they'll sort it out. Yeah, they're just really easy to talk to. If you've
got a problem or you feel like you're falling behind you can easily just book a tutorial
with them and they're more than happy to help out, so yeah, it's really good.
Well for the first year it was quite exciting when we did our first prescribing exercise
class or running group exercise classes because there are, you know, humongous amounts of
fit balls and weights and all the different things to play around with that you always
see in gyms or hospitals but you never actually get your hands on. And they've got walking
sticks and, you know, to do all of your activities which was quite good fun but then, like, moving
into year two we're now using things like ultrasound machines and loads of different
things which are different therapeutic techniques. Nottingham has quite a large range of things
you can use, and it's the stuff that we will be needing on placement so it's quite good,
learning how to use it before you go out.
Yeah the physio itself has a Physio Association which is sport and socials and things, so
we actually have our own football team, rugby team, well rugby we join in with the medics,
like hockey, netball, so there's everything that we can get involved in and that's just
with the physio cohort itself. But we've also got our own Karni team as well, which is like
a big charity organisation which courses don't usually have themselves but physio and the
medics seem to be special and we have our own Karni team which does things like raising
money for charity and you know, visiting other cities and stuff which is really good fun
to get involved in.
