Recent changes in phone numbers and processes have prompted us to update the Madison College
Crisis Magnet. The new magnet is yellow and black and our hope is that every employee,
every workstation, every classroom, every lab has one of these handy near the telephone,
so that people know how to respond in the even of a crisis.
New magnets will be distributed by the mail room, so we'll actually put them in all the
mailboxes. If you don't happen to have a mailbox, you can stop by the public safety office at
Truax to pick one up. We're also going to have a table at Convocation on March 14 to
pick up a new magnet if you need one.
The old magnets are blue background with white text or there's even some older magnets that
we've seen out there that are red, white and blue. We'd like to collect the old magnets
because it's better to recycle them. We're actually going to pass them off to the child
and family center here at Truax so that they can use them for kids projects. Drop your
magnet off; the mailroom has agreed to take them, you can drop them off in public safety
or again, at Convocation, we'll have a drop-box for them.
tidBITs are a new Marketing strategy by the Behavioral Intervention Team. The Behavior
Intervention Team was started after the tragedies that occurred in 2009 as a way for people
to report behaviors of concern from students, if faculty noticed it or if staff noticed
it. The BIT receives these red flag referrals and then follows up to process them. To help
communicate more about the process, what the Behavioral Intervention Team does, we've decided
to create little tidBITs in the Madison College Matters over the next few months, to tell
more about what we do, to kind of give ideas about how you would respond in the event of
a certain incident, review some case-studies, and a little bit more about that. So those
are the tidBITs that are going to be coming up.
