( Music ) >> Kate: Well at least I did better than I
expected.
>> Emily: Of Course you did you are like an honor student.
>> Kate: Well, how’d you do?
>> Emily: Terrible.
>> Kate: Well, he’s a really hard grader maybe we can talk to him after class and get
some points back.
>> Emily: That’s stupid, it’s not going to help
>> Kate: You’ll never know if you don’t try.
>> Emily: I’m tired of trying. I can’t catch a break, everything is piling up and
I can’t deal with it. This is hopeless.
>> Kate: Dr. Nateck do you mind if I talk to you for a second?
>> Dr. Nateck: What’s going on?
>> Kate: I just don’t know if I have anyone else to talk to and I am really worried about
my friend Emily. She won’t get up for class
(alarm ringing).
>> Kate: Don’t you have class in a little bit?
>> Emily: I’m too tired.
>> Kate: She won’t hang out with us anymore.
Kate (knocks on door)
>> Kate: Hey Emily, let’s go grab some ice cream.
>> Emily: No, I can’t.
>> Kate: It’ll just be like an hour.
>> Emily: I’m really busy.
>> Kate: Uh, come on We haven’t hung out in forever.
>> Emily: I said I can’t. Just go ok.
>> Kate: She’s not talking to her family.
( phone rings three times )
>> Kate: She quit soccer and she used to love soccer.
>> Kate: I just don’t know what is going on, she seems distant and is always sad.
(group laughs)
>> Student: Yeah it was kinda crazy.
>> Kate: She’s not acting like herself, I know she is not doing well in school. And
I’m just really worried that something is really wrong.
>> Dr. Nateck: Kate, thanks so much for talking with me. You know, I’m going to see her
today, you have been a really good friend.
