Christmas is fast approaching -
a time to feast and be merry, but many in poverty it's not so joyous.
However, the Salvation Army have always strived
to provide Christmas cheer to those in poverty,
including one lady they helped who is now helping others.
This is Lesley Rota.
She was raised in Waima, Panguru, but moved to Auckland to find work.
She has four children aged between seven and 18 years old.
She says she owes a great deal to the Salvation Army.
That was in 2007, but now the tide has turned.
Lesley has been working here, at the Auckland District Court,
for one year but now she is helping others in need
by assisting them through court processes.
In the lead up to Christmas,
this family is in high spirits with the support of the Salvation Army.
Something that was out of reach in the past.
