stockings hung decorations on the walls and christmas dinner on the table when
a San Jose a family received in early gift last night
as Ann Rubin found out it was Dad not Santa delivering this tiny package
it was a gift the Heymings were not expecting this christmas
baby Connor arrives two weeks ahead of schedule
He was due early January and I was thinking Mid January.
But I guess the baby had his own will. The trouble there wasn't that he was
early it was that he was fast
and by the time the Heymings realized what was happening
there wasn't time for help to arrive. You do whatever you can
I thought that, you know,
it would last long enough
so that somebody could help take over, but nobody came
they had planned for a homebirth anyway
and their two midwives drove as fast as they could, but when they pulled up
they were met by a proud papa instead. The labor had taken just taken thirty five
minutes. He stuck his head out the
door and said, "The baby's here!"
And I heard a scream. You know, babies crying good cry. The baby was perfectly healthy
and by all accounts husband Joe had done a good job delivering him. I thought, "Oh he's
in control and he's helping me through it you know. He only told me afterwards that
he was kind of getting nervous there." The Heymings still can't quite believe what happened
immediately after, its like, "We did it!"
we were committed to having a home birth
and I'm just glad it all worked out. The only trouble, christmas dinner with delayed
and presents for their other son logan we're left unopened
the family said they wouldn't have traded this gift for anything
