Quickly compressing large images for use on the web or in blackboard.
Assuming you have a recent version of Microsoft office installed, 2007 or later,
you should be able to simply find the picture
in windows explorer,
right click on the picture,
and select open with
and take Microsoft office.
This may say Microsoft Office 2010 as you see here, or it may say Microsoft Office Picture Manager.
In either case the photo will open in Microsoft Office Picture Manager,
and you can then go to the picture menu
and select compress pictures.
You can try any of these options. Probably the web pages option is going to be the best.
And as you can see this is going to automatically compress this image from a size of 1.22 MB
all the way down to 57 kbytes. Click OK,
and there's a picture in a size useful for the web
or for blackboard.
Then simply save the picture,
and, if you want to keep the original, large file rename it.
And you're ready to use that picture efficiently on the web or in blackboard.
