Wow you're amazing. Thanks to you this year at Guide Dogs four
and a half thousand people are experiencing the independence of life with a guide dog.
We've worked with children and young people to give them the independence and confidence
they need to live the lives they choose. Over fifty children have been partnered with buddy
dogs so they can start to feel confident and part of their communities again. And over
eight and a half thousand people have worked with My Guides to get them out of their homes.
I'm Jayne George. I'm Director of Fundraising and Marketing for Guide Dogs.
Being able to get out and about on your own is really vital to lead a full life. It's
not a reality for over a hundred and eighty thousand people in the UK today who never
leave home alone. We've also campaigned this year on behalf
of blind and partially people. We've ensured that there are legislation changes. For instance,
just recently to bring tougher action against people whose dogs attack our guide dogs. [Slide displaying text about dog attacks legislation]
Our volunteers are incredibly important to
us, [slide displaying text about My Guide Partnerships] and in 2013 we had over twelve thousand volunteers carrying out over sixteen thousand
roles across guide dogs. That's a significant number and one we look forward to growing
in future years.
Thank you for everything you do, helping us to change the lives of visually impaired people.
Happy Christmas. [Slide displaying text Thank You and Happy Christmas]
