This is our new main exit for the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal. As the public and tourist
get off ferry boats, they will be directed this way out of the terminal.
on the Island, so we've been back and forth and seeing, I didn t know what was going on
here. We've been seeing something in progress. And thought, oh it looks like something interesting
there. But I gotta say it looks amazing! We coordinate with many of the emerging youth
artist in the city of Toronto. Hired them for three weeks in the summer to come down
to the docks. And collectively they've created a mural that celebrates and represents the
shore stories of Toronto's harbour. Last week last week..today. And everyone just gets cut
(laughter). It's worth it, actually seeing everything done with the ground in. It's just
incredible. It's still a little soft, You could potentially take it on your spatula
and fill in the very top. I had a few youth designated as mentors for the younger group.
For me, it was mentoring the mentors (laughter). So Just give it one or two coats of a um sponge.
I did get a bunch of good artists. But it was still fifteen people. I had to put these
fifteen people together to think as a group rather than individualistically. I think it's
still too wet. It's still too wet, yeah, just leave it. It's a win-win scenario. We give
jobs to artists to youth. And we bring a lot of job This looks really good. It's interesting
because they just want to go and they see walls and they say this has to be mosaic,
this has to be mosaic. So I think they have the mosaic bug now a little by now. It's pretty
amazing. I really like the ferry, I see they're doing some of the farm animals from the zoo.
I'm assuming they're trying to capture some of the elements of the island. So it's quite
impressive. They're really put the spark in the waterfront. It's so wonderful that they
depicted a lot of the history of the harbour. To see Babe Ruth, just to see elements of
the harbour, people watching as there's fire works above. The diving horse, the swans,
it's wonderful. Because it's depicted a large part of the community. What is this down here?
Is that the? Multiple People: The Church. People can step up to these murals and feel
like they're part of them. And it's an acceptable means of sharing stories and the culture of
Toronto. Well, I think it's definitely going to put a lot of smiles on people's faces.
When they walk off here and come into the city from being our beautiful Toronto island.
They'll walk through here and as soon as they see the first picture of the ferry boats is
going to put a smile on a lot of their faces coming through. hj:9 hS?\ hj:9 hS?\ [Content_Types].xml
