Back in England on summer days
staring out of the window,
dreaming of a blue sky and a golden haze.
When will these dark clouds go?
Should I plan a BBQ
or a supper round the fire instead?
Need to feel some warmth in my bones
from my feet right to my head.
But now it's 40 in the shade
and ice in lemonade don't seem to cool me down.
The blinds have been defeated 'cos the house is overheated...
and most of my neighbours have left town
for the Port or Isla Plana
leaving me melting here back in Alhama.
When the sun goes down and the chairs come out
in the streets below me,
the drinks are poured and the food is passed
and the chatter goes on 'til 2 or 3.
It's impossible to sleep at night
and too hot to work in the day.
Need a shower every hour or two
to keep this heat at bay!
But now it's 40 in the shade
and ice in lemonade don't seem to cool me down.
The blinds have been defeated 'cos the house is overheated
and most of my neighbours have left town
for the Port or Isla Plana
leaving me melting here back in Alhama.
When it's cold and I'm moaning in December...
can I ask somebody to please make me remember...
when it's 40 in the shade
and ice in lemonade don't seem to cool me down.
The blinds have been defeated 'cos the house is overheated
and most of my neighbours have left town
for the Port or Isla Plana
leaving me melting here back in Alhama.
