Hi guys, this is Nicole here. Now the awards season is upon us, which means celebrities
are coming out, almost every week, with fabulous hairstyles that we all want to try at home.
So we are going to look at today is how to do Heidi Klum's hairstyle from the People's
Choice Awards this week. It is a fabulous ponytail with a braided twist, super hot definitely
what I am trying at home this weekend.
So what we are going to show you is how to do this at home, a little bit casual and laid
back. I love the look. Check this out.
Ok, so first thing first, wash and dry the hair. Then we are going to throw it into a
high ponytail. So you want to brush your hair back, try to get as high, almost up to your
old babysoft spot, at the crown of your head. You want to get it up there and then any ponytail
works for you. Now of course depending on the length of your hair, you may want to even
throw in a hair extension in before you get to this step.
Ok, we got our ponytail set, the next step is to divide up a piece of hair and you want
to twist this piece to wrap around, like Heidi has as a high twist. You can even do a French
braid to look really good. For today's sake, we are going to do a twist. So you grab a
chunk of your hair, split it into two, and then you want to twist the hair. And you want
to make sure you get it pretty tightly twisted so it holds nicely, and all the way to the
bottom. To have it secured, just grab one of these little tiny hair ties to hold it
in place. Now we have our first step done.
We are going to wrap this around the ponytail. You definitely want to go counter-clockwise
so you go underneath, up and over, in that case you get the nice high volume up here
like Heidi had. Depending on your length, you may even get to wrap it around twice.
I am just able to do that. And then you want to grab a bobbin pin and secure it in place.
So now you have your first twist.
Ok, so now we had our hair in the high ponytail, we wrapped the top piece around the elastic.
Now next step you take the ponytail, split it into half. Now if you like me, you have
layers, you definitely want to be aware you are splitting it equally so it does not run
out before you get to the bottom of your twist. And then you want to start twisting and make
sure it is really tight at the top here. Twist around and it is going to be tight, tighter
than what you want to be, because once you get to the bottom and you tie it, it will
actually unravel and looks really pretty. So we are down to our bottom here and grab
the hair tie, I am using a so of the color that is as close to my hair color as possible
so it really blends in. So definitely do that. And then once we have it secured, you can
let it go, so you can see it already started taking the shape, like Heidi's hair was.
Now we are down to the last step. So I use a hair extension to give an extra body of
volume, now we are finding then of course the hair extension piece is a little bit longer
so I am going to make use of this. Now you want your last bit to be even. So we have
most of hair here, so I am going to do is a little trick and fold this up, and just
kind of twist the longest piece around the hair tie so hides it nicely. And then we are
just using one more little hair tie to hold everything else in place. So let us have it
here and just a little couple of extra spins. And you can use the hair and kind of shove
it down to hide the last elastic. That is the essentially that, and you can see we have
done a pretty good job at home mimic Heidi's look.
We are officially ready for a date at night.
