That's me!
Welcome back to another episode of Triple D's. I'm your host, Dee and today I have a
very special guest with me. She's the author of the brand new children's book, My Hair
Is So Happy, and she's also an up and coming beauty guru right here on YouTube.
Ladies and gentlemen, please help me give our guest a warm special Triple D's welcome,
Nik Scott.
Thank you so much for being on the show today, Nik.
Thanks so much for having me, Dee, the pleasure is all mine.
As much as I'd love to talk about your new children's book you're here today to talk
about your life as a beauty guru. So, let's get started with the questions.
I wanna know, Nik Scott, how long does it take for you to film and edit your videos?
It really depends...I mean it can take me from anywhere from 10 to 40 hours a week to
film and edit videos.
Wow! That long? So you mean to tell me a little 2 minute video could take up to 10 hours to
film and edit?
Yes ma'am.
Now, piggy backing off of that question, Nik, when is the best time for you to film your
YouTube videos?
Uh. When I'm home alone and nobody's there. There's just a lot less distractions that
way.
Now, me myself, I love to spend me some money honey, but for you, Nik Scott, are you a saver
or a spender?
Well if it's like that, I am the opposite of you. I am a complete saver.
Now, Nik, I have watched every single one of your YouTube videos. And you seem to be
so natural and comfortable in front of the camera so I really need to know, Nik Scott,
what makes you feel so comfortable talking in front of the camera?
Really? I do not feel like I'm comfortable in front of the camera at all. I mean, there's
some videos where it was deliberate but there are also some videos where it wasn't so deliberate
and I felt that I was talking so robotic and mechanical.
Alright, Nik. Now we're getting into some juicy stuff. I wanna know, they wanna know,
what is your worst make-up and hair habit?
The times that I do wear make-up, I am not that great at washing my make-up off before
I go to bed. And as far as hair goes, um...that would probably have to be me not tying up
my hair before I go to bed.
That sleep must be real good to you.
Yes, it really is!
Now, Nik Scott, I follow you on Facebook and Twitter and you post some pretty inspirational
stuff on there. Out of all of the quotes that you've read and you've posted, what is the
one quote that you wish the world would live by?
One of my own quotes, and it is I'm not interested in following in someone else's footsteps,
I'd rather blaze my own trails.
OOH-WEE! I am so glad that this question is not for me. But it's for you, Nik Scott.
How long does it take for you to get ready every day?
It really is dependent on this stuff right here. If this is acting wrong, it's going
to take all day long.
If I remember correctly, Nik, you've been on YouTube now for about 3 or 4 years, so
out of all the videos that you've watched over all these years, what is your favorite
YouTube video?
Out of all the videos that I've watched I would have to say that this video that I discovered
back when I was transitioning to natural hair, and it was a song.
Like if there was a replay button on YouTube, I would have been hitting it to play this
song because it was just so relatable to me and the fact she was talking about my story
and she put it in this rap song...
Now I am not a rapper. But, the song was like, the naps in my hair won't quit. The naps in
my hair won't quit. It's been 8 weeks since I had a relaxer...
If I had to pick a favorite video on YouTube, I'd have to say it's that one.
And piggy backing off that question, Nik, what YouTuber do you currently watch that
you feel deserves more views and subscribers than they already have?
Well, out of the people that I currently am subscribed to, I would have to say, MrsHairToday.
O.K. Nik, I recently watched you 2013 vlog video, and first of all, I was so sorry to
hear about all of the trials and tribulations that you and your family faced last year,
but, we're in a new year, it's a new season. And I want to know, Nik Scott, what are you
most excited about this upcoming year?
Thank you so much, Dee. Um. Yeah. 2013 was a hell of a year for me and my family, but,
we are in 2014. It's not just one thing, it's everything that I'm excited about this year.
Now I can't imagine this every happening to you, Nik, but what is your most awkward filming
moment?
Um. All of them.
Alright, Nik. How long does it really take you to prep for those YouTube videos?
Uh. I don't know. Like, for a hair tutorial, that's easy, quick prep because, I could literally
roll out the bed and do a hair tutorial because I'm supposed to start that video off undone.
But a DIY takes a long time for me to prep for.
Yeah, I can se that. I can definitely see that.
I already know the answer to this next question because I'm looking right at you, but all
them people out there they don't know the answer. Now Nik, I'm going to need you to
be real honest with this one with me, O.K.
Right now are you currently fully dressed, or are you only dressed on the top and wearing
sweats or pajama pants on the bottom?
Camera man, go on and zoom in on Nik Scott's bottom right quick!
Now why you gotta call me out like that, Dee? Come on now.
Alright, Nik Scott, this is my last and final question, but I'd say this is definitely the
most important question because you seem to be such a well accomplished, focused, strong
woman and your hair is looking all beautiful and big the way we just love it down here
in Texas. I want to know, Nik, what is the one thing that you're most proud about in
your life?
Aw, thank you, Dee. I would have to say, that I am most proud of is my family.
That is so beautiful.
Alright, y'all, that concludes this week's episode of Triple D's. Be sure to tune in
next time and while you at it, make sure you rate, comment and subscribe. And be sure to
