Creating a sustainable region means providing access to diverse housing, promoting more
transportation choices, encouraging economic growth, protecting our natural environment,
creating communities where people can walk, bike and access healthy food, and preserving
and enhancing our quality of life for future generations. The Capitol Region Council of
Governments is leading by example and focusing its efforts on producing smarter growth
and more livable communities. CRCOG's Sustainable Capitol Region Initiative is one of
many initiatives in Connecticut working to create a vibrant future by planning and
implementing for livable communities, working together toward common goals, investing in
our neighborhoods and our regional economy, and creating access to opportunity. While
many towns are taking steps to make their communities sustainable, there's more that we
can accomplish working regionally. CRCOG is committed to collaborative leadership and
supports its municipalities by sharing Information through new channels, building
capacity with innovative planning and implementation tools, encouraging partnerships with
existing groups and forging new alliances, engaging the community, especially those
groups that have been under represented, and tracking its progress through benchmarks and
metrics. Join the others who are leading by example and help build a more sustainable
future. Here's how.
