hall good morning guys I am patio hot
the author up cycle with Decoupage today for Valentine's Day
I thought I would show you how to do this pretty beethoven inspired
Valentine's Day craft
the supplies list may have gone by a little too quickly I apologize
I'm going to put a link to them on my blog if you'd like to go over there at
WWW dot upcyclewithdecoupagedotvpweb.com
and I'll show you how we can get started
the first thing I did was I made a laser copy
this is Edwardian script I am crinkling up the papers so that I can give it a
little bit more of an
aged look. now I'm adding
a base coat just regular
acrylic paint to all
3 of the hearts and this is the black coating that's going to go underneath
I am going to add the crackle finish
any type of crackle finish
is fine but just wanna make sure your base coat is dry
now I'm going to
outline my script in water just so that I can tear it out a little bit easier
I'm also going to rub the back of this with a little bit of water just to make it
a little
thinner
here's a little tip to help you
cut out napkins when you don't want to use the whole piece.
put some wax paper down
place decoupage glue all over the napkin
fold the wax paper over top
and use the hard brayer to get out any wrinkles or excess glue
then open it up peel the napkin away
straighten out any tiny wrinkles you may see in there but there shouldn't be too
many
and put this aside to dry takes about 15 minutes to 20. Once it's dry
you can start to cut out
exactly the shape you want. This will make it much easier to cut don't
separate
the napkin by the way make sure it's still 3-ply when you apply the decoupage glue.
I tried to apply
a glaze here over the crackle and I
wasn't crazy about the glaze or the crackle
but I'm just going to
add a coat of white paint over this not crazy about the glaze turned out
but I wanted you to know why it looks the way it does.
and now
adding white paint over the dried
glaze & dried crackle and I'm going to
let this dry and move on to the next step putting this on all three hearts. By
the way
I'm just adding
paint to the back of all 3 hearts
now I'm just sanding
all three surfaces. using sandpaper and my nail file.
now you want to add
a coat of decoupage glue over the whole surface
and let this dry completely
now we want to make sure
that we do a dry run before we do any decoupaging. set everything up to make sure you like it first.
make sure
it looks the way you want it to look. Now we're going to take a piece of parchment
paper
and place it over top
take the image that we've cut out along with our script
and this is an embroidery
iron which I'm very excited about but you can also use a travel iron you can
use your home iron
you just need to fool around with the temperatures you don't want it too hot.
but I believe this melts the napkin right
over the surface. Because you have that decoupage glue on there.
you can use the nail file along these edges to remove
any pieces of paper that are overlapping you can now add a coat of decoupage glue
over the surface of everything that you've ironed.
Once everything's dry
I'm spraying it with a top coat. I'm now
adding these adhesive foam circles to the backs
love the smaller hearts to place them
over the larger heart. Now I'm just adding some Tulle to the back
along with a couple of tacks to secure it.
Here we are in bright light. Happy Valentine's Day! Here is our
completed project
