Hi, I’m Faith and I’m here at Flat Fork Studio, and I’m going to show you how to
cut a tile using a handheld tile cutter. Basically, what you do is you lay your tile out- say
if I want to cut this tile in half- I’ll lay my tile, good, comfortable position. And
the tile cutter has got two components to it. There’s a wheel with a little point
on it, and that’s what we use to roll across to score the tile. And then you place the
tile in between these two on this flat surface here and you squeeze, and that will break
the tile. So first you decide where you’re going to cut your tile. You put your wheel
on, and you apply pretty firm pressure because you’re trying to score the tile. You hear
that? When you hear that noise, you know you have a successful score. So here we have a
score line. It’s not real straight, but it’ll do. And then, from here, you take
and place it in between- you kind of put it towards the edge, because it’s a little
bit easier to break towards the edge. Firm grasp…and you have your tile is cut. And
that is how you use the handheld tile cutter to cut tile.
