Connor: No, not even a little bit, no, I never thought I'd be in a fraternity
Yeah, last thing on my mind.
Amy: If someone wasn't thinking about being Greek, I'd tell them I was in that exact same place.
I know where they are coming from, I didn't think Greek Life would be for me, and, now that I'm in it, I can honestly say that I really enjoy it, and you won't know how the experience is, unless you try it.
Andrea: At least meet the people before pre-judging and having assumptions about Greek Life. If you don't try, you're never going to know.
Connor: Why I decided to join a fraternity... um, really it was just because you're joining something that's bigger than yourself, um, it's an opportunity to build something,
it's an opportunity to be part of a support structure, where not only you're getting a lot of help from everything from life advice to school, but you can help other people with that,
and it's a lot of fun, and, uh, it's really rewarding.
Amy: Being a member, for me, means being part of something that's bigger than myself.
Andrea: I think this experience has really, has kind of opened my eyes.
I was never someone who thought I would join Greek Life, I was kind of, like, pretty iffy about it, didn't see it in the best light, and now I realize, I shouldn't judge people that I don't know.
Dan: I really think that it has given me the opportunity to make some life-long friends that I would otherwise have never met.
We have different majors, we're from different towns, we're very different people, and, you know, with me being so focused on writing and theater and such, I don't move beyond those worlds very often,
and the fraternity has been a great way for me to break out of that a little bit.
Amy: Just having those other sixty women that I can reach out to helps a lot,
because there's someone always there that can go do something with you.
It really helps socially and academically, um, because you get both aspects of, hey let's go hang out, and, hey let's go study.
Andrea: Academics is a really big issue, and if you're not upholding that, then you can get removed, because this is something that our institution really stresses.
Connor: Being in a fraternity, personally, uh, it's been the single most rewarding experience ever.
and not for the reasons you would think, like, oh I made friends for my entire life, um, really it's about the leadership experience.
It's about knowing how to execute an event, how to organize a meeting, um, how to manage your time.
How to put together something successfully, and how to mobilize people to get that put together.
Dan: But the best thing about fraternity is the people I thought I would never be friends with
are some of the people that are in my fraternity and
and I am confidant in saying they will be my lifelong friends.
And I will stay with them, and they're going to be in my life, and I'm going to be in their life
and years from now we'll come back for Homecoming it'll be (snaps) a right where we left off kind of thing, you know?
It's been very rewarding to meet different people.
