Will some of the season's brand-new shows survive to see season 2? I've got the scoop
on what series are newly in danger of cancellation, and which can breathe easy in today's edition
of Cancellation Buzz.
While there have been no new casualties since our last Cancellation Buzz, some shows are
teetering dangerously on the edge and quickly gaining traction. FOX's new cartoon series,
Allen Gregory, premiered to really disappointing ratings, earning it the not-so-coveted title
of lowest-rated entry on Fox's scheduling block. According to Zap2It, ABC's Man Up!
has continued to slip in the ratings since its premiere, and unless it digs up a miraculous
increase in viewers fast, it's likely getting the axe soon. And inching dangerously close
to the edge of cancellation is NBC's Prime Suspect, which is raking in less viewers than
the already-canceled Charlie's Angels. Ouch.
On for the good news! Just in time for Halloween, FX's new thriller series American Horror Story
was given the green light for a 2nd season, while AMC's zombie smash Walking Dead was
given a 3rd round. Over on Showtime, the post-Dexter timeslot seems to be treating Homeland well,
as the Claire Danes series has also earned itself a second season. Over on network TV,
Simon Cowell's X Factor was renewed for round 2, while new crime shows Person of Interest
and Unforgettable were given full-season pickups by CBS. That's it for today, but be sure to
follow SideReel on Twitter for timely updates on what's been canceled and renewed.
