Hi, I’m Tom Antion from www.AmazingPublicSpeaking.com.
I know you are here looking for speech writing and how it ties into your public speaking.
I am not an advocate at all of writing out an entire speech. What I have seen over the
many hundreds and hundreds of speakers I’ve helped over the years, is that when you write
out your speech word for word, you are the most likely candidate to black out on stage.
I’m not saying pass out and fall on the floor, but you forget what you’re supposed
to say. When you’ve got it that rigidly structured, then any kind of distraction in
the room can throw you off completely.
We have lots of other methods at www.AmazingPublicSpeaking.com that professionals use, so that an earthquake
could happen in the middle of their speech, or the bus boy or a wait person could drop
a big tray of glasses, and it will not throw you off. So it’s up to you to learn these
techniques and forget about speech writing. Pretty much you’re going to bulletize your
presentation. We have mental techniques so that you can spit out the whole thing but
not word for word. The only time you have to worry about word for word is if there’s
some exact punch line that fits a story so that you don’t reveal it before you tell
a story or ruin your humor. But most of the time, you don’t have to say things word
for word.
So come over to www.AmazingPublicSpeaking.com, get yourself a trial membership and you will
learn all kinds of techniques where the last thing on your mind will be speech writing.
You’ll be worried about pushing the audience to action, having them rolling in the aisles
laughing, maybe a tear coming to their eye if you’ve got an inspirational or quiet
story that is emotional. Whatever it is, we’ll teach you how to do it. Forget the speech
writing, move people to action.
I’m Tom Antion. Maybe I’ll see you one day on the speaking circuit.
