Good morning, we are here enjoying another breakfast in Costa Rica
and one at today's breakfast items that you see on a regular
bases is rice and beans
rice and beans is Costa Rica's national dish
and there's two trains of thought on this
1 is that the rice and beans
was a stable bought by migrant workers
after 'em slavery was abolished in the carribean. Rice was
often cooked a self-sustaining crop
by the workers in that, they could grow it in their own
homes and so it took off in popularity
big one in central america. It's interesting that in Costa Rica they
eat alot of rice here as opposed to the rest central/south America where its corn
The second train of thought is
that the rice and beans that actually came out of a Saint Sabastein
religious ceremony I and was
invented initiated by the Costa Ricans so here we have a national dish
that you see
every day three times a day yet it is somewhat still steeped in controversy
some I'll update you as we went along to the voyagers
