Some of the common mistakes you may experience while learning to do a switch pivot will basically
have to do with getting into the ramp, or back into the ramp, after being in the stalled
position. And pulling it in. One of the best ways to do this trick, is to imagine that
you keep your body weight and yourself as much on the inside the ramp as you can. So,
most times when you miss this trick, you're going to imagine that you're going to want
to run down the ramp and be on this side of the coping. If you end up on top of the platform
too much, you're not going to have a easy time of getting back in. Easier time of getting
back in will be if all of your weight is on the outside and you just poke the board up,
and then bring it back in. If you find yourself pivoting and getting stuck up on top, then
you're getting way too much weight on top of the ramp. And you want to make sure that
you stay inside and just poke your legs up and poke the board up, to get back in. The
other mistake you may experience is not being able to get up to the pivot position. Sometimes
you'll get up to here and then you'll notice it falls down into a disaster position. You're
just going to have to roll faster. One of the ways you can do is, is to sometimes nose
tap, or do a switch drop-in on the other wall of whatever you're skating. if you're not
skating something that has another wall, you're just going to have to take a few more pushes
to get all the way up to it. And these are just a few of the common mistakes with the
Switch Pivot.
