Hey everyone, my name is Brandon from Room 214 and I'm here to walk you
through some of the big changes made to Facebook pages recently.
Number one is the big layout change. You'll notice that Facebook pages look a
whole lot more like user profiles now.
So tabs and applications are all on the left.
And the next big change is:
across the top of the screen here were shown the top five photos.
These are the five most recent photos posted by your page. These will appear
in a random order so if you're thinking, "hey I can customize, I can throw something
cool up here," you can, but keep in mind
the next time you refresh this page this is going to be completely random new
order, so make sure all these images work on their own.
The next big change made to pages
is in the settings. If you click "edit page" up on the top right here,
it's going to take you to the back end of your page. What you can do here is click this
left tab on the top here "your settings"
and uncheck this box here.
What this is going to do is allow you to go to your page and post as your personal
profile. So
I'm Brandon, if I go to the Room 214 page and and create a wall post it'll
show up as me and not the page.
Another big change that they didn't really do a good job of telling
people about I think is this "moderation blocklist" right here.
Facebook spam posts have been pretty bad especially if you're managing a large
community with a lot of fans,
there's a lot of spam going on
and there wasn't really a way to control it. Though now you can type in
free iPod or free iPad
something like that and it's going to block a lot of that spam.
You can also come to this profanity locklist
and change the features from medium to strong
and that's going to filter out people that are posting inappropriate content
all automatically.
It's going to save you a lot of time and a lot of work if you come through here
and take full advantage of that feature.
Lastly the biggest change that Facebook has made for business pages is
they've added to the ability for you log in as the page.
So if you see this link here "use Facebook as Room 214"
I want to click that
and now I'm logged in as Room 214.
Your notifications are going to
pop up and let you know anytime somebody interacts with your page, so if
someone clicks "like" on your post or posts to your wall,
you'll get a notification here.
You can also come to your home feed
and what they've done now is let you go through and like other Facebook pages so
you can like your clients you can like some friends businesses
and if you come to the home page here,
you'll see a feed of all the posts from those pages.
What's even cooler is you can go to these client pages
and you can actually
type in messages
as your page. So I'm going to say "hey guys"
And if I click share here, it's actually going to post from Room 214 on to
SmartyPig's wall. Really cool new feature.
Another thing they've added to the layout is featured likes.
So if you check out some of these pages here, these are some pages that
our page as Room 214 has clicked like on.
Now you can actually
select which of these you display. You can head to the back-end, click this "featured" link here.
You'll be able to add featured likes. That's going to add a box on your page
visible to anyone that visits
and you can click which one of these pages you actually want to show up.
So if you've got a really cool project going on and you want to feature it
or if you've got several pages and you want to get some exposure
from a larger page,
this is a really great way to get some visibility to everybody visiting your
page.
