I think, all our society is run by insane people, for insane objects, objectives.
And I think that's what I sussed when I was sixteen and twelve, way down the line.
But I expressed it differently all through my life. It's the same thing I'm expressing all the time.
But now I can put it into that sentence that I think we're being run by maniacs for maniacal ends, you know.
If anybody can put on paper what our government, and the American government, etc.
and the Russian, Chinese... what they are actually trying to do, and how and what they think they're doing,
I'd be very pleased to know what they think they're doing. I think they're all insane.
But I am liable to be put away as insane for expressing that, you know. That's what is insane about it.
I start from the supposition that the world is topsy-turvy, that things are all wrong.
That the wrong people are in jail and the wrong people are out of jail.
That the wrong people are in power and the wrong people are out of power.
Our problem is the numbers of people all over the world who have obeyed the dictates of the leaders..
of their government and have gone to war, and millions have been killed because of this obedience.
So we're saying, give peace a chance. You know, like nobody has ever done it before.
And it's not a matter of, we're not thinking in terms of ten years..
We're thinking in terms of 'peace forever' you know.
Anybody knows that the people have the power. All we have to do is awaken the power in the people.
The people are unaware. It's like, their not educated to realise that they have power.
Peace on earth. That implies no violence. No starving children. No violent minds, no violent households.
No violence, no frustration, no fear.
I have a dream! That my four little children, will one day live in a nation..
where they will not be judged by the colour of their skin, but by the content of their character.
I have a dream today!
And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country.
Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression. And where once you had the freedom to object,
to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance,
coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission. How did this happen?
Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those who are more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable.
But again, truth be told...if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.
I’m only a child yet I know, if all the money spent on war, was spend on finding environmental answers,
ending poverty and in finding treaties, what a wonderful place this earth would be.
You teach us to not to fight with others, to work things out, to respect others and to clean up our mess,
not to hurt other creatures, to share, not be greedy.
Then, why do you go out and do the things you tell us not to do?
Do not forget why you are attending these conferences, who you are doing this for.
We are your own children!
Resist we must, and resist we will! We will not be silent! We will not obey!
We will not let our government destroy our humanity!
We will not wait another moment in fear to stand up for what we know to be right!
It is time we start meeting oppression with resistance.
They cannot stop us! Humanity marches on. You can fight it, or fight for it.
When we say revolution, we say it with love.
There's too much money here.
Nobody should be hitting the Lotto for $36 million when we got people starving in the streets.
That is not idealistic. That's just real. That is just stupid.
There is no way Michael Jackson, or whoever Jackson..
should have a million thousand quadruple billion dollars and then there's people starving.
There's no way. There's no way, that these people should own planes and these people don't have houses.
Apartments, shacks, drawers, pants.
I know you rich. I know you got $40 billion, but can you just keep it to one house?
You only need one house. And if you only got two kids, can you just keep it to two rooms?
I mean, why have 52 rooms when you know there's somebody with no room? It just don't make sense to me.
It don't!
I'm sorry but I don't want to be an Emperor, that's not my business.
I don't want to rule or conquer anyone.
I should like to help everyone if possible, Jew, gentile, black man, white.
We all want to help one another, human beings are like that.
We all want to live by each other's happiness, not by each other's misery.
We don't want to hate and despise one another.
In this world there is room for everyone and the earth is rich and can provide for everyone.
The way of life can be free and beautiful. But we have lost the way.
Greed has poisoned men's souls, has barricaded the world with hate;
has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed.
We have developed speed but we have shut ourselves in: machinery that gives abundance has left us in want.
Our knowledge has made us cynical, our cleverness hard and unkind.
We think too much and feel too little. More than machinery we need humanity.
More than cleverness we need kindness and gentleness.
Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost.
The aeroplane and the radio have brought us closer together.
The very nature of these inventions cries out for the goodness in men,
-cries out for universal brotherhood for the unity of us all.
Even now my voice is reaching millions throughout the world,
millions of despairing men, women and little children,
-victims of a system that makes men torture and imprison innocent people.
To those who can hear me I say "Do not despair".
The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed,
the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress:
the hate of men will pass and dictators die and the power they took from the people,
-will return to the people and so long as men die, liberty will never perish.
Soldiers: don't give yourselves to brutes, men who despise you and enslave you,
who regiment your lives, tell you what to do, what to think and what to feel,
who drill you, diet you, treat you as cattle, as cannon fodder.
Don't give yourselves to these unnatural men,..
machine men, with machine minds and machine hearts. You are not machines.
You are not cattle. You are men. You have the love of humanity in your hearts.
You don't hate, only the unloved hate. Only the unloved and the unnatural.
Soldiers: don't fight for slavery, fight for liberty.
In the seventeenth chapter of Saint Luke it is written:
"The kingdom of God is within man" Not one man, nor a group of men, but in all men; in you, you the people.
You the people have the power, the power to create machines, the power to create happiness.
You the people have the power to make life free and beautiful, to make this life a wonderful adventure.
Then in the name of democracy let's use that power, let us all unite.
Let us fight for a new world, a decent world that will give men a chance to work,
-that will give you the future and old age and security.
By the promise of these things, brutes have risen to power, but they lie.
They do not fulfil their promise, they never will.
Dictators free themselves but they enslave the people. Now let us fight to fulfil that promise.
Let us fight to free the world, to do away with national barriers,
do away with greed, with hate and intolerance.
Let us fight for a world of reason, a world where science and progress will lead to all men's happiness.
Soldiers! In the name of democracy, let us all unite!
