So at Dorn Homes we've spent years creating what we call "building Science". It's our
brand, we've spent years consulting with some of the best engineers and scientists in the
industry on how to make the best engineered home in america. Dorn Homes we took a holistic
approach to what we're doing with our Building Science, which what that mans is... we took
a combination of different building techniques very state-of-the-art, not only the components
but how we put our homes together. Which translates into a very well built house, very energy
efficient home, and also, it preserves or conserves our natural resources. So for decades
in the home building industry builder, myself included, would always claim that we had one
of the most energy effient homes in the business. But finally, we've come up with an industry
standard on how to rate a home if it's truley energy efficient, or not. It's called a HERS
rating. H-E-R-S. It's like miles per gallon in a car, so the lower the HERS score, the
more energy efficient your home is. We have a third party certification, it's a consultant
that comes in , independent 3rd party, and actually will verify the HERS rating of our
home, and our HERS rating tends to be 30-40% lower than a code built home today. It's another
feature that we put in our homes because we really care, not only about the environment,
but particuarally about our home buyer and his energy usage. And I think a lot of people
would rather spend money on a vacation, a new boat, a new car then giving it to the
utility companies.
