My name is Emma and this is my story.
Stepping stones started nearly eight years ago now. My daughter Isla was born with Down’s
syndrome so we decided to start a coffee morning.
We have about 106 families who are members of Stepping Stones. They get to discuss things
that might be concerning them where people will understand the emotions they may be feeling.
We run a variety of activities. Our basis is the ‘Stay and Play’ session and then
we run social activities and outings for the parents. And then we also run a range of developmental
activities that help the children with core stability, sports clubs that can help the
coordination and strength and development.
So if we can help provide some of that education to make things that little bit easier then
that’s what Stepping Stones is here for.
As a mum I needed support, I needed help and advice and to meet other families and through
being part of Stepping Stones I’ve been able to do that so that’s enhanced my life
and my children’s lives.
Just being part of other people’s lives has just been fantastic.
