tomoko
poke a an incredible story in haiti ab of course everybody is aware of the
january twelfth earthquake in haiti
essentially left port au prince in ruins the death toll is unofficially estimated
at two hundred thousand the last i checked it
may even be higher now
ten baptist missionaries from the new life children's refuge
tried to simply take
not adopt
maybe they said
the word was adopt but not adopting a legal sense
not talk to anybody just go in and take kids and it seems that the motivation is
as many as they can convert to christianity
i don't know why i don't know what your reactions to the straight so i mean it's
basically kidnapping in and smuggling right
wealth i don't know what the legal to bring up the government of the country
you have to get him into the country somehow that's right and i understand
what they were thinking would happen once they got onto the plane
that didn't happen
fortunately and kidnappers for jesus is the name that they've been called on the
web
the internet so to speak
that it's a group of evangelical church goers from idaho they're led by a
personal shopper named laura silsbee
who was also the executive director and founder of the new life children refuge
she descended upon the earthquake ravaged country of haiti
with this group of bug ten people they wanted to *** and grab one hundred
orphans off the streets and from orphanages their mission statement is to
share god's love with these precious children
helping them he'll and find new life
in christ not just fine you life in the u_s_ minute new life in christ they were
only able to gather up about thirty three some of which were even orphans
turns out the evangelical do-gooders became alleged kidnappers and child
traffickers when they loaded the haitian orphans orphans in quotes
on a bus and attempted taken across the border sid
dominican republic for the new life refuge orphanage
with no documents from the haitian government
no documents of course from the ones that part orphans because hey
their parents dot
that it was their kids
this orphanage turns out to be a five forty five room hotel it kabir at the
beach resort and the dominican republic with the group was renting bizarre story
they did get caught in the i don't know if they're still in jail but they were
sitting in jail for a while
that's that's where you're at all
the missionaries believe they were sent by god and that perhaps somehow
their faith might put them above the law here's a quote from car the thompson
god is the one who called us to come here
and we just really believe that this was his purpose
they also said that the uh... they are saving the souls of children from a
deeply catholic country there of course protestant evangelical
it's incredible isn't to really is your own novel after wonder why god didn't
allow them to get away with it
moment that's that's the question and i would be curious to talk to them i mean
we know
suck people have miss heard what god tells them right now we know that
treasurer caloric
his eyes and i hope the are
pat robertson has even ask sometimes you hope she heard round so we know
sometimes people can this year the lord not that the lord whatever misspeak
exist on the findings on the hearing end on the receiving end that the
misunderstandings happened now
for more reason galleria
they did they did get arrested like i said i don't know if they're still in
jail or not will find out
